My new adventure novel Rocking Horse War has just been published, and I’m really excited because this is my first novel without the fabled beasts from First Aid for Fairies. But it still has plenty of hooves, as it starts with some large fast violent rocking horses stealing some children.

This is my first picture book. And yes, it’s about bottoms. And also about sand, and seagulls, and Scottish summertime!
It has fabulously cheerful and funny pictures from Gabby Grant, and it’s being published as part of Floris Books new Picture Kelpies series.

I’m a writer and storyteller based in Leith.
My first children’s novel, First Aid for Fairies and Other Fabled Beasts, was published in 2008, and the sequel, Wolf Notes, was published last summer. At the end of last year, First Aid for Fairies won the Royal Mail Award for Children’s Books 8-11 category – a prize voted for by children!
Another book, a gory retelling of Tam O’Shanter, was also published last summer.
