Diary

I’m not doing many public author events at the moment, due to long covid, but I’ll put details of any events I am doing on this page. You can also find links to some recorded events. And if you want to invite me to do an online story event with you, please get in touch: info@laridon.co.uk

upcoming events:

Sunday 2nd June 2024, 10.30am to 12.15pm

Digital workshop for Cymera book festival

Recycling magic: the craft of using old tales to inspire new stories

Info here

Nb – this is a workshop for adult writers, not for children. Though I’d be happy to adapt it as an online workshop for younger writers, if anyone wants to ask me to do that!)

previous events:

Thursday 29 October, 11 am (session still available)
BBC Authors Live, for the Scottish Book Trust
James Robertson read his Scots translation of Julia Donaldson’s Room on the Broom, I told a Scottish folktale, and we chatted about Halloween traditions and stories.

Saturday 26 September, 2pm (session still available)
Wigtown Book Festival – also online
I told another story from Fierce Fearless and Free
and I took part in a Q&A chaired by the lovely Vivian French

Tue 18 Aug, 10 am (session still available)
Edinburgh International Book Festival Online!
Fierce Fearless and Free
Eilidh Muldoon and I chatted about how we wrote (me) and illustrated (Eilidh) the collection of myths and legends about strong girls. And I told a story while Eilidh illustrated it – which was a highlight of the summer for me!

Sat 8th Aug, from 1 pm (session still available)
I took part in the Summer Reading Challenge, with the theme #ScottishSillySquad,
so I read the Big Bottom Hunt and told a traditional tale about tails on the Scottish Libraries youtube channel

And I’m always delighted to answer questions and discuss stories on Twitter (@LariDonWriter) or by email (info@laridon.co.uk). And there are online resources up on this page of my website.

Keep well, and keep loving stories.
